More than you cared to know about a truck interior.

I just read this in an interview on Allpar: "The wood trim component in the Laramie Longhorn, the veneers come from trees that were used as fence posts, wrapped in barb wire. Over time the barbed wire rusts and creates this unique pattern, and that's the wood we use in that truck . It's a special feature in that truck. I know, it's crazy."

The leather...it turns out...is only from cows who've seen Curly's gold. I guess the excitement of seeing the "I've found the gold" dance changes the color. Who would have thought?

You have to sell trucks to South Africans, right?

I've sat in one of these trucks and it was insanely comfortable.

I sat in one at the Seattle car show, it was definitely nice, and...big.

The plastics were hand-made by midget elves in a magical cave guarded by unicorns.

I love the leather in the Long Horn. It's soooo soft and I love the color. The saddle bag pockets on the seat backs are nifty too.

I purposely buy lower trim trucks. I do take them off road and they do have to work from time to time. In my mind, what good is leather if it is covered up all the time. (I keep cheap covers on mine cause they get dirty when working). My trucks are not to make a statement, they serve a purpose. I bet my $23K truck does everything a $50k+ truck does.

When the truck has a nicer interior than a Benz...

Pretty sure it stops being a truck.

The carpet comes from the wool of the rare unmolested Welsh sheep.

Caged elves, stained by barbed wire rust.

(Because the imagery has to be tough!)

Then you probably won't be please to hear they are planning a Laramie Limited, above the Longhorn. From the interview (I took liberties to trim it down):

"Back in Chicago, they told us we were going to reveal the new Ram Laramie Limited trim. It’s above a Laramie Longhorn. We’re coming right out of a rough economy with another trim level above the Laramie Longhorn, which is already an expensive trim level. We haven’t found the top. Our customers want the premium premium premium. The days on lot for those trucks are lower than for anything else."

And goes on to make a decent point:

"High-end equestrian customers, they’ve got a lot of interest in that kind of stuff — his trailer’s worth probably a hundred grand because it has living quarters in it. He’s got $250,000 worth of horses or cattle or something in the back of it. The truck’s the cheapest part of his rig, and it’s got to be nice because he’s sitting in it all day."

Oh, I'm sure there is an ass for every seat, as they say. It just does not fit my M.O.

They actually referenced that truck in the interview. The guy mentioned that the truck still has to be a truck, and the interviewer interjected, "Because we don't need another Lincoln Blackwood," to which he replied, "You can print that, but I can't say that."

Pretty funny.
